In-Person Request to Attend

We offer a nontraditional educational program that allows students to advance through high school at their own pace. Students choose independent study for credit recovery, acceleration, or a more flexible schedule. The VCIS staff understands the importance of providing assistance for our learners' academic, language, and developmental (ie. emotional and social) levels.

Online Request to Attend

Students enrolled in our online program (9-12) can access their coursework anywhere internet access is available. Each student is assigned a supervising teacher to oversee their educational progress, provide support, and assign courses.  Students must attend a face-to-face meeting once a week with their supervising teacher. Additional time is required for students to complete assessments, wet labs, and project reviews while on campus. VCIS provides a student area to work and receive extra support when needed. Typically, online students need to plan to be on campus for a minimum of 2-hours each week.

What Happens Once The Application is Filled Out?

Once you have filled out the online application, a VCIS staff member will contact the family to set up an orientation.

  • The parent/guardian AND student will both be required to attend an orientation. Failure to attend may result in losing your spot for enrollment.

  • It is your responsibility to be sure that the phone numbers we have are accurate and if they change, you must let us know. If we are unable to reach you because of a disconnected phone, we will remove you from the waiting list.

  • You must continue to attend your high school until you have attended our orientation.

  • If you have any questions or are having trouble filling out the application, please contact our front office (West Campus) at 559-931-8030 or (East Campus) at 559-735-8055

VCIS is home to the only blended learning program in Tulare County.  We offer a full spectrum of independent study courses plus a comprehensive online curriculum.

FAQs

My child wants to attend VCIS but is currently enrolled in an academy not located at our home high school. How does this work?

Please note - if your student is no longer in the academy, they will have to return to their home boundary high school if dropped from VCIS regardless of grade level. The Intra-District Transfer policy is only waived when the student attends the academy.

What happens if we decide VCIS is not a good fit for my child but my student had previously been approved for an Intra-District Transfer?

You, as the parent, have the choice to withdraw your student from VCIS.  Your student will be required to return to their home boundary high school and a new Intra-District transfer application would need to be submitted.
